European Exchange Project Marchena (Spain)-Siena (Italy)
Cultural exchanges
Description
Alminar managed an exchange project for Marchena City Council (Seville) with the Comune di Siena (Italy) under the European Social Fund’s Youth in Action programme.
In March 2009, a group of young Europeans travelled to the Italian city to gain an in-depth understanding of its social life, all as part of a project we called “Youth and its Heritage”. In 2010, the young people of Siena visited Marchena to find the similarities between Spanish and Italian popular festivals, especially in relation to animals. To do so, they carried out a comparative study of the Palio (the Siena festival in which the horse takes centre stage), bullfighting and the role of the horse in Andalusian culture.
Alminar Servicios Culturales drew up both projects, which were approved in both cases, coordinated both city councils with the European institutions and designed every detail of the activities, workshops and visits for the participants.
